I hope everyone is enjoying the four day weekend so far! Here is what is coming up next week:
Leader in Me- We will work on creating a class mission statement.
Writing- We will begin learning about personal narratives and the writing process.
Math-Tuesday we will review and take the Topic 1 math assessment. Your child should have brought a study guide/practice test home with a note attached. This test is over the multiplication and division strategies we have learned about so far. I will enter the score in Mastery Connect, but please note that we have just begun learning these strategies. It is OK if your child does not have them down yet. There will be many opportunities to show mastery on these standards coming up.
Reading- We will begin reading groups Tuesday! We will also be working on asking and answering questions using evidence from the text as support.
Social Studies- A map of the Missouri border states will come home Tuesday. We will be quizzing over these on Friday after we have spent the week practicing. There is a fun song we will use to remember them too!
Math worksheets- you will notice math worksheets coming home in your child's red take-home folder each day. We usually complete the guided practice together and they finish the independent practice on their own during math stations. We rarely complete the back of this page. Students are welcome to complete the back at home and return it to school for 2 Dojo points. I understand how busy evenings can be, so please do not feel this is "homework".
Raz-Kids login- I am sending a colored card home Tuesday that has login information for accessing Raz-Kids at home.
Home Reading- Even though students are not required to keep a log of their at home reading, it is still very important that they are reading at least 20 minutes a night. You would not believe the difference that time makes on your child as a reader. Having them read out loud to you is even better!
